Kainafu Releases KNF-500PRO Self-Cleaning Water Quality Sensor for Unmanned Online Monitoring

Kainafu has officially introduced the KNF-500PRO self cleaning water quality sensor, an online multi-parameter monitoring platform built on a fully modular probe architecture. Every single-parameter sensor is an independent RS485 digital probe that seals water-tightly onto a central body, and calibration data is stored inside each probe so that field calibration, replacement and maintenance can be completed on site without dismantling the whole instrument. One 84 mm × 476 mm housing accepts up to six probes and seven parameters, which makes the platform equally suitable for a wastewater aeration basin and a marine aquaculture cage.

Why Self-Cleaning Decides Data Quality

Fouling is the single most common reason online water quality data drifts. Biofilm, micro-bubbles, algae and sediment settle on optical windows and electrochemical surfaces within days, and the resulting bias is usually invisible to the operator until a compliance report is rejected. The KNF-500PRO addresses this at the hardware level: a central automatic cleaning brush sweeps every installed probe at a programmable interval, 30 minutes by default, removing bubbles and contamination before they harden into a coating. Combined with titanium alloy, POM and anti-fouling copper construction, the result is a sensor that keeps its accuracy through long unmanned deployment cycles instead of asking a technician to climb a ladder every week.

Core Capabilities

  • RS485 output with standard MODBUS protocol — direct connection to data acquisition platforms, PLC/SCADA systems and automatic water quality monitoring stations.
  • Up to six freely selectable probes — dissolved oxygen, conductivity (salinity), turbidity, pH, ORP, chlorophyll, blue-green algae, water oil, ammonia nitrogen and depth can be combined on demand.
  • Field-replaceable, individually calibrated probes — each probe is removed and calibrated directly, cutting downtime and spare-part cost.
  • Built-in fault alarms — the mother unit reports power supply, communication and cleaning-brush abnormalities so that a silent failure never becomes a data gap.
  • IP68 protection, 0–30 m working depth — continuous immersion in wastewater, surface water, groundwater and seawater.
  • Low power draw — 0.8 W with the brush idle and 2 W while rotating, well within the budget of solar and battery-powered remote stations.

Key Specifications

Model Kainafu KNF-500PRO
Probe capacity Up to 6 probes (7 parameters) + 1 central cleaning brush
Output Continuous RS-485, MODBUS protocol
Cleaning Automatic brush, default interval 30 minutes, settable
Protection IP68
Depth 0–30 m (pH / ORP 20 m)
Power supply DC 12–24 V, ≥1 A (whole unit); 9–24 V, ≥1 A (single probe)
Consumption 0.8 W (brush off) / 2 W (brush rotating)
Dimensions / weight 84 mm × 476 mm / 2.3 kg with 6 sensors
Materials POM, titanium alloy, anti-fouling copper
Certification ISO 9001:2015

Measurement Performance

Parameter Principle Range Accuracy
Dissolved oxygen Fluorescence 0–50 mg/L or 0–500% sat. ±1% or ±0.2 mg/L
Turbidity 90° scattered light 0–1000 / 0–4000 NTU ±5% or 0.3 NTU
Conductivity / salinity Four-electrode 0–200 mS/cm; 0–175 ppt ±1% or 0.01 mS/cm
pH Glass electrode 0–14 pH ±0.02 pH
ORP Platinum electrode -1999 to +1999 mV ±20 mV
Ammonia nitrogen Ion electrode 0–100 mg/L (opt. 0–1000) <0.1% F.S.

Typical Applications

The platform is deployed in municipal and industrial wastewater treatment plants, river and surface-water monitoring networks, groundwater observation wells, marine and freshwater aquaculture, and drinking-water source protection zones — wherever continuous, unattended data is required for months at a time. Because probe combinations are configurable at order stage, a single SKU family covers nutrient removal control, algal bloom early warning and salinity intrusion monitoring.
